Registration Evaluation Authorization of Chemicals - TOTAL Special Fluids

REACh (Registration Evaluation Authorization of Chemicals)

Effective since June 1, 2007, the European REACh Regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006 applies to all European Union Member States for all substances manufactured and imported in the EU. The regulation aims to assess health and environmental impacts of using chemical substances, while sustaining innovation and development.

All Total Fluides' substances produced or imported into Europe are registered in accordance with the REACh Regulation.

At European level, a Substance Information Exchange Forum (SIEF) is created for each registered substance where all the producers meet to share available studies, propose classifications based on relevant data and draft the Chemical Safety Report (CSR). The Chemical Safety Report contains all the substance's physico-chemical properties, toxicological and ecotoxicological data, proposed classifications and the health and environmental hazards assessment for all identified substance uses.

In the context of REACh, hydrocarbon solvent producers in Europe and the relevant SIEFs are part of the HydroCarbons Solvent Consortium (HCSC).

All REACh registered substances have been classified according to HCSC proposals to submit the registration dossiers and are published on the consortium's website. It is worth noting that these proposed classifications are featured on the ECHA website but they will only be final after evaluation by the ECHA Risk Assessment Committee (RAC).
